I am pleased to be teaching the “Introduction to Foresight” class at this summer’s World Future Society Assembly in San Francisco. It will be on Friday, July 24th from 8:00am-3:30pm. I’m accepting a handoff of the class from Dr. Peter Bishop who taught it capably for many years, as he is now focusing on his Teach the Future foundation.
The goal of the course is to provide an overview to futures concepts, approaches, and resources as employed in business, government, non-profits and higher education, and as taught by the Houston Foresight program. The session will share approaches that futurists use to understand, map, and influence the future. It uses blend of lecture, exercises, discussion, and a sample project in order to provide participants with a hands-on experience that will generate practical and useful take-aways, focusing on:
- Concepts: basic concepts used by futurists in understanding the future
- Approaches: methods employed by futurists for mapping and influencing the future
- Resources: an overview of the foresight field including leading organizations, texts, journals and websites
The course is intended for those new to foresight and those in need a “tune-up.”
Here is the Registration page. Hope to see you there! Andy Hines

Andy,
Any chance there will be a video of your foresight class in San Francisco that can be purchased? I do not feel rich enough for a flight and a hotel stay.

hi curt, nice to hear from you!
I believe the WFS offers audio recordings, but that might just be for the general sessions.

…besides, you know the “Intro” stuff!
