It’s great to see my piece “Getting Ready for a Post-Work Future” published in Foresight and STI Governance. I blogged about pieces of it previously and thought I’d bring it to closure with…drum roll….a top ten list. As I have talked about a post-work future and after capitalism, the question of “what we do with all that free time” inevitably comes up. I note that there would likely be things that we would have to do, even it wasn’t a job per se. But more free time for sure. The big fear can be captured as people “getting drunk and watching TV.” I agree that some would choose that path (and I say, more power to them as long as they don’t harm others). But most of us, I believe, would find more productive uses of that time. So, here’s a stab at ten activities we could do more of, if we didn’t have to work:
