by Nine years of multiple starts and stops (more stops), hundreds of scan hits, dozens of books, 84 blog posts, uncountable conversations, and the like has resulted in a book structure with a bunch of raw stuff dumped in it and a general idea of what I want to do. Now it’s finally time to get to serious writing!
The After Capitalism research is centered on interesting “new or next economy” concepts. They’ve been analyzed, clustered, and re-grouped several times.
Above is the pretty-much-final version. The main buckets of concepts:
- Horizon 3 “Transformation” Images. The transformation archetype involves changing the rules of the game and a new system emerging. The visions attempt to characterize a new economic system or era at the highest level — they seek to explain a new socio-economic order.
- Horizon 2 “New Equilibrium” Transitions. The new equilibrium archetype involves a challenge to the existing system in which the response is to compromise but keep the essential structure intact. The transitions explain emerging variations of capitalism that are still part of existing capitalism with some new elements, and are bridges to the visions.
I will take suggestions on key works that may be missing, but no promises, or I’ll never finish J.
